HERW!N
The customer
HERW! N is the umbrella organization for social enterprises in the social economy. It is a collective of nearly one hundred social-circular entrepreneurs.
The question
In early 2022, Herw! n asked us to support their board retreat. They wanted to look toward the future and review their strategy with the entire Executive Board. It was quite a challenge, but together we pulled it off successfully. All of these board members also serve as directors of their own organizations, which already demands a great deal of their time and energy. Yet they’re all convinced that they can become stronger as a collective. And that shared conviction is what makes Herw! n a success in the first place. Over the past two years, their collective ambition has solidified and the team has grown, but that growth also calls for a stronger focus on strategy.
The Process & the Impact
Ever since that first board meeting, we’ve been able to call ourselves a strategic partner. This means that we stand alongside HERW! N whenever issues come up. Together, we reflect on the membership model, consider who the members of the future should or could be, and take a critical look at internal operations. We’re trying to clarify HERW! N’s role in this ecosystem and where its added value lies. To develop the partnership model, they need to know who shares their mission, can strengthen them, and is willing to join forces. Drawing on our knowledge of their members, we brought various perspectives to the table.
As a champion and ambassador of the social economy, HERW! N can also exert pressure on policymakers, which is why it’s important to take a closer look at their approach to policy work. HERW! N will continue to push for a strong social economy, which has been at the core of its strategy. In this way, it can influence the government and work to improve the circumstances of its members. There is no doubt that HERW! N wants to remain at the forefront of advocating for the social economy, and that is why they continue to keep everyone motivated and aligned, even after the board meeting.
“Over the course of two years, HERW!N evolved from a client to a partner for us, and we became a sounding board for their team and board of directors. It’s a vote of confidence we’re proud of. ”
