Experience is an understatement
Like everyone at S&L, Jeroen was drawn in because of his extensive experience. Although, to be honest, experience might be an understatement. To name a few achievements: mediating in Kabul, campaigning for Consortium 1212, coordinating the Syria campaign, introducing Handicap International in Flanders, and increasing Oxfam’s annual donations from 5 to 12 million. When you ask him what makes the difference, his answer is always teamwork. Without connections to strategy or communication, fundraising projects just float around aimlessly. Collaboration across departments, among larger and smaller players and internally at S&L, is his conditio sine qua non for impact.
Dismantling the master's house
Ever since graduating, Jeroen knew he didn’t want to spend his days convincing people to buy products they don’t need. If you ask him, that kind of energy is much better spent towards driving social change. He feels strongly that together, we can dismantle outdated systems that prioritise the self-interest of a few over the common good.
