Nicholas Vijverman

A bottomless barrel of energy

It is hard to write about Nicholas without putting an exclamation mark after every sentence! There is an energy around the way he speaks and acts that you can still notice three meeting rooms away — as bottomless as Mary Poppins’ bag.

In his younger years, that energy was professionally directed toward the major profit giants. What may seem like a logical choice for a business engineer was actually part of Nicholas’ master plan: learn everything from the greats and then use that knowledge to make the world a better place. From McKinsey to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, he has already had a fascinating journey.

In the meantime, he has happily landed at S&L. With us, Nicholas helps NGOs and social enterprises that can no longer see the proverbial forest for the trees because of all the figures and data. Give him an Excel file and he’ll give you valuable insights in return.

Competitive? Moi?

Nicholas dreams of a better world. If you ask him how we can best create it, his answer is surprising: with stories. Because it is the stories we tell each other — about the circular economy, steward-ownership or impact enterprises — that shape our world. That certainly explains his fondness for Greek mythology.

When Nicholas isn’t improving the world, he strings together an impressive array of hobbies. He is a walking jukebox who also dares to spin records. A half marathon purely on willpower, diving in Egypt, theatre for beginners or beating his significant other at board games? The common denominator is clear: competition! Action! Impact! Nicholas!
